Yes, I wrote about RuneScape

I play RuneScape. It is a very popular massive multiplayer online role playing game, and it is very fun. I have been playing for six years. It takes place in a fantasy realm known as Gielinor. You are a powerful adventurer, in search of high adventure, fantastic beasts, and glorious rewards, seeking fame and fortune, all the while working to bring balance back to Gielinor, and make the world a better place. Players are free to take their own course through the game, and my favourite thing to do is go on quests, diving into the story head first.

The primary reason I like RuneScape is that it is like a humongous storybook that I shall never finish, and I contribute to the story. I love games for their story, and RuneScape’s story is deepening with every quest. I have done one hundred and sixty-five quests out of one hundred and eighty-eight, and I have adored the story so far. As such, I am eager to do more quests that I may dive even deeper into the story.

The story of RuneScape is absolutely fascinating. There are so many events going on in Gielinor. It is amazing that each little bit of story is slowly combining with other bits, and those bits form a big piece of the picture. My ultimate goal is to collect all of those pieces, so that I may see the whole, glorious picture. The satisfaction I get from doing quest is equivalent to the satisfaction one might get after completing a race, or the pride one might get from making an incredible project for school: the feeling that one’s time was not wasted. When I finish a quest, it is like having just read a big revelation in a novel. It is great having solved one mystery, but the suspense of a new mystery arises, and makes me want to do more quests.

Why do I not quit RuneScape for an even better game? The reason is, if I stop playing, it would mean that all of the time I spent playing would have been worth nothing. It would be like reading halfway through a book, but never finishing it. I hate leaving things unfinished. It is one of my few OCD-like traits.

Do you start eating a cookie, but throw away the rest? Do you pour a glass of water, but dump it when it is still half full? I would imagine not. It is the same with books, and – for me- video games. If something goes unfinished, what was the point of having started? The answer is, if one does not finish something, they would have been better off not starting in the first place. That is why I still play RuneScape, even though there are far better games out there. RuneScape is an enormous book that is ever developing, with plot twists, surprises, mysteries, and more. It is the ultimate story, and that is why I play it. Now that I have finished this, I think I shall play right now.
