The Flavourful Bliss of Comfort Foods

Everyone has a comfort food that makes them feel nice and cozy. I have a few foods that just make me feel warm, toasty, and safe.
I absolutely adore tea. Nothing makes one feel more warm and cozy than a nice cuppa on a chilly day. It is comforting under any circumstances, at at any time, in any place. My favourite kind of tea is Earl Grey tea. It has a delicious flavour that really comforts you. I think tea works better for me than cofee because it is a very flavourful thing. It is v ery light and sweet. Cofee is strong and bitter, which is not what I look for in comforting things. Sweet is homey and fun. Bitter is austere and serious. Blegh!
As far as actual foods go, there is a certain kind of food I eat for comfort, depending on the time of day. On chilly mornings, nothing brightens my day more than a delicious everything bagel with egg white and cheese. It is so full of flavour, and enriches my taste buds! It warms me so. I usually take tea to go with my bagel, rather than cofee (coffee is dumb). Throw in some Hawaiian Punch, and you have the makings of a very fine breakfast.
At lunch time, I thoroughly enjoy having a wondrous bowl of chicken soup, or oriental ramen noodle soup. With the soup, I usually have a cooling cup of Hawaiian Punch to balance the warmth of the soup. Tea with soup is too warm. I especially enjoy soup in the winter, after a long day of playing and working outside.
My preferred dessert varies, depending on my junk food mood. If I feel like something sweet, chocolate with tea on the side is perfect. If I druther have something to tingle my tongue, I prefer sour gummy worms with a side of Hawaiian Punch to dilute the tingle. If I desire something salty, I usually side with pretzels or potato chips with some soda to go with it. Tea does not go with everything, which is saying much coming from a tea lover.
My favourite dinner choice is some delicious beef barley stew, cooked to perfection. I love my mother’s stew because it reminds me of such delightful times. The flavour, the aroma, all mingle in a delicious combination of salty, sweet, and meaty. The broth also warms me from the inside out, making for some serious coziness. I always look forward to my mom’s stew, and I must ask her to teach me how to make it one day. With the stew, I enjoy some soda, to balance the saltiness.
Comfort foods are things that make us feel good inside. How many times has your day been brightened by the knowledge that you shall be having your favourite dinner later on? I know my day has been improved numerous times by one of my comfort foods. They are simply a way to escape our lives by drifting into a flavourful bliss that tantalises the senses. Who does not like comfort foods?
